CLAREMORE---In a Claremore funeral home with a casket on display to add to the somber subject matter, the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office and Oklahoma Highway Patrol kicked-off this year's ‘Drunk-Driving: Over the Limit, Under Arrest' crackdown.
‘August 20th through September 6th we're going to have extra law enforcement out there in force over that time period,' said OHP Trooper Shawn Cummings, ‘this ultimately is about saving lives.'
6,871 drivers were involved in alcohol-related crashed in Oklahoma last year with 209 fatalities.
‘Unfortunately police, ambulance drivers, firemen, we all deal with this on a day-to-day basis,' said Cummings, ‘if we can reduce it by even one fatality it'll be worth the campaign.'
