TULSA, OK -- A Tulsa resident shoots a 36-year-old man trying to break into his home early Monday morning.

Tulsa Police say the man rang the doorbell of a home in the 2300 block of South 121st East Avenue at about 3:30 a.m.

The resident of the home told the man he was going to call 911. Officers say the man went around to the back door of the home and tried to enter through a sliding door.

At that point, the resident told officers he feared for his life, picking up a .22 caliber handgun and firing once through the sliding door.

Police say that shot hit Michael B. Crawford. Police say he was transported by EMSA to a Tulsa hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.

Police arrested Michael B. Crawford and booked him into jail on a first-degree burglary complaint.

An investigation into the incident continues.
