CLAREMORE, OK – Claremore went airborne Thursday night as the Gatesway Balloon Festival floated into town.
The event officially lifts off on Friday, but organizers fired up their balloons for a two-mile test flight Thursday night.
One of the highlights of this year's festival is "Jack". It takes 16 people to put the 11-story "Jack in the Box" in the air.
And of course a crowd favorite is the nightly glow.
"The glows are outstanding. They're about dusk each night. And we put up 15 balloons," said Phillip Thompson, Gatesway Balloon Festival. "You walk under them and it feels like you're in sort of 'Alice in Wonderland.'"
You can find the field of colorful balloons parked at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore. For more information about the festival, check out their website.
