TULSA, OK -- A Tulsa faith-based organization is sending a team to Iraq at the end of August to help distribute 10,000 new pairs of shoes to Iraqi children.

World Compassion Terry Law Ministries has been working in Iraq since late 2002 and has provided roughly 45,000 pairs of shoes to Iraqi children since the program began.

During the month of August, World Compassion is hooking up with Tulsa radio station KXOJ and asking for help to reach their goal of an additional 10,000 pairs of shoes.

World Compassion says through a 3 for 1 matching gift, every pair of shoes donated will be matched by 3 more pairs. A donation of one pair of shoes will actually reach four Iraqi children.

A city-wide shoe donation effort will be held at the Jenks Riverwalk Tuesday, August 3rd and again Monday August 9th.

A team from World Compassion will be leaving for Iraq at the end of August to conduct shoe distributions from a previous shipment of shoes that arrived in Iraq early last week.
