Heavy Rains, Construction Restrict Traffic On 81st Street In South Tulsa

TULSA, OK -- Heavy rains and construction work have forced the city of Tulsa to restrict traffic on 81st Street South between Memorial Drive and Mingo Road.

The city announced Friday morning that the road will be closed to through traffic unitl July 26th.

According to a news release from the city, a construction crew is building an improved storm sewer in the area, part of a project to widen 81st Street from two lanes to five lanes.

East 81st Street near the storm sewer at approximately South 92nd East Avenue will remain closed until Monday, July 26.

According to the release, the closure will block through access between Memorial Drive and Mingo Road on 81st Street.

The road will remain open to local traffic on either side of the storm sewer, but drivers will have to find other routes to travel between Memorial and Mingo.
