TULSA, OK -- The soaring sounds of the United States Air Force band landed in Tulsa Friday.

The Shades of Blue jazz ensemble is recording at "The Church Studio," working on music that can be handed out to sponsors, schools, and libraries.

It's just one of several Air Force band ensembles that perform everything from jazz and funk, to rock-and-roll. But just like anyone in uniform, these airmen are ready to pack up their sax and answer the call of duty.

"Whether it's here in the continental United States, or even to go downrange where the troops are," said Major Daniel Price. "When they're deployed we will deploy along with them and perform for them."

The band comes through Oklahoma frequently on tours, but this is their first time recording in Tulsa.
