TULSA, OK -- Tulsa Parks is kicking off summer with a new water park.
Thursday was the grand opening for the new water playground at Maxwell Park on East Newton. Money from the 2001 and 2006 sales tax and Vision 2025 paid for the park.
"This is such a huge improvement," said Bob Hendrick, Tulsa Parks. "This pool had been closed for nine years, it was a real eyesore. And now it's gorgeous."
Water playgrounds are going up at Chamberlain and Owen Parks too. The city says they're more affordable because they're easier to maintain and don't require lifeguards.
