JENKS, OK – Work has begun on a on a multi-million dollar project in Jenks.
The Jenks School District broke ground on the new Math and Science Center on Friday. Crews have begun clearing the land.
The Trojans band was on hand to help celebrate the start of construction.
The Superintendent says the center will give students a competitive edge. And, students are excited about it.
"We're gonna have this big thing that nobody else in the state really has," said Jolee Potts, a Jenks Freshman. "It's just gonna be really awesome."
There's a lot to be excited about, along with all the extra classroom space, the Math and Science Center will also have a planetarium. Work is supposed to be complete sometime next year.
Residents approved a bond issues back in 2008 to pay for the construction.
