TULSA, OK -- The Better Business Bureau of Tulsa has tips for people doing repairs to their home after last week's storms.
The agency says they're seeing people who claim to be licensed contractors, but aren't.
If you're not careful, you could lose a lot of money.
Since the storms came through, the BBB says contracting companies from all over have made their way to the Tulsa area.
One thing to watch for is companies that ask for the money up front.
According to the Better Business Bureau not every contractor that comes in from out of town is up to any good. Some may even offer a good deal.
But Rick Brinkley with the BBB says if something goes wrong, it could be more of a headache trying to track down the folks who did the work in the first place.
"If they're long gone you're gonna be stuck holding the bag and having to hire another company to come out there and fix the problem. They fixed so it's always better to deal with a company that you can get your hands on if you've got a problem down the road," said Rick Brinkley.
He suggests you check with friends about whom they've used and check with the BBB.
Be leery of people who pressure you to do something right away and anybody who wants money up front.
If you hear 'well we can't get out to your house, unless you pay us now', leave them alone.
