TULSA, OK -- A group of Tulsa Police officers began a three-day trek to Stillwater Monday morning to remember a fellow Tulsa police officer who was a U.S. Marine who died in action in Iraq in 2006.
The group is raising money for Special Olympics in honor of Corporal Jared Shoemaker.
Their goal is $10,000 and they are nearly there.
The officers participating in the 69-mile walk will be walking with full backpacks.
Corporal Shoemaker was killed in action on September 4, 2006 by an improvised explosive device during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
