TULSA, OK -- The I-44 widening project reached a new milestone Friday.

The News On 6 was there as workers poured the last concrete at the Perryman Ditch, near I-44 and Peoria.

The 20-foot tall, 40-foot wide ditch is a key piece of the overall project to widen I-44 from Riverside to Yale in Tulsa. It runs along the north side of the interstate from the Arkansas River to Yorktown.

The project should be finished next spring, but if the weather holds, it could be ready well before then.
