TULSA---This May the Tulsa Fire Department will be holding a special round of training at its Fire Department Training Center on Newblock Park Drive. Called Firefighter Survival and Basic Rapid Intervention Crew Operations, the firefighters trained in self-rescue when possible, and how to save another firefighter in emergency situations.
‘This training is primarily to keep us safe,' said Tulsa Firefighter Chisom Frazier, ‘fire-ground tactics to get us out of the problem situation, basically.'
The Tulsa firefighters believe in on-going training, practiced freeing themselves from entanglements, lowering fallen comrades when few ropes are available, and developing a ‘survival attitude'.
