OWASSO, OK -- The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention are working with public health officials in 16 states, including Oklahoma, in its investigation into a multi state outbreak of human infections due to Escherichia coli O157:H7 (E. coli 0157:H7).
In December, the USDA reported National Steak and Poultry began a voluntary recall of 248,000 pounds of beef products from its facility in Owasso.

The CDC says 21 patients in those 16 states, including one in OKlahoma, became ill between mid-October and late November. Patients range in age from 14 to 87 years.
In a CDC news release, there have been nine reported hospitalizations, but no deaths.
