OKMULGEE, OK – Okmulgee police are searching for a woman who escaped from a patrol vehicle after she was arrested Monday night.
Police say they received a report that a man and woman were attempting to break into an enclosure containing new propane tanks at the Last Stop convenience store. Shortly before officers arrived, they say a witness reported to dispatch that the suspects had left the scene. The witness was able to provide a description.
Based on that description, officers contacted a woman at a home in the 1300 block of West 6th Street.
During their investigation, officers recovered five propane tanks believed to have been stolen from the Last Stop. Officers say they also located three apparent shake and bake meth labs.
Constance Jean Martin, also known as Connie Jean Martin, was arrested at the scene and placed in a patrol car. As officers' attention was diverted while securing the scene and tending to two children found in Martin's custody, they say Martin managed to exit the patrol vehicle and run away.
She was believed to still be in handcuffs at the time of her escape.
Officers describe Constance Jean Martin as a white female, approximately 46-years-old, 5'4", weighing approximately 130 pounds. She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a striped sweater.
Officers say the man was not located.
If anyone knows the whereabouts of Martin, call the Okmulgee Police Department at (918)756-3511.
