STILLWATER, OK – Dez Bryant embraced coaches, teammates and members of the Oklahoma State football family at the team's year-end banquet on Sunday evening.
The Cowboys' wide receiver only played in three games this season, but you could sense it was an emotional evening for Bryant, as he exchanged a hug with offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer and other members of the football program.
"I felt that I was back with the team," Bryant said. "They had my back when I was hurt and when I wasn't hurt; they called and checked on me. You've got to love people like that – good people like that."
It has been a learning experience for Bryant, who was ruled ineligible by the NCAA on October 7 for not disclosing the details of his relationship with former NFL star Deion Sanders. His appeal for reinstatement was denied by the NCAA on November 6.
Bryant says the entire process has made him more mature and to be "truthful at all times." He believes, though, the punishment by the NCAA was not fair.
