TULSA, OK -- A milestone was reached Friday morning at the future home of the Tulsa Drillers. The first seats at ONEOK Field were installed Friday.
"Today marks another milestone in the quickly progressing construction process and brings us even closer to a new era in downtown Tulsa," said Drillers President Chuck Lamson. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the private donors, sponsors and businesses located in the downtown improvement district that are helping to fund this exciting project."
Construction crews began the process of installing newly designed seats around the field in downtown Tulsa.
Manhattan Construction project manager Bob Jack says the 5,800 seats are specially designed and are the first of a new nostalgic slat back chair called The Heritage, which captures the earlier era of baseball and ballpark design.
Tulsa Driller officials and some season ticket holders were on hand for the ceremony.
The seat installation is expected to be completed by the end of December.
