TULSA, OK -- The Tulsa Police Department along with assistance from the Tulsa Police Reserves are implementing the Safe Shopper Program starting on Black Friday.

Police officers from TPD's Riverside Division will patrol the major shopping centers at 41st and Yale, Utica Square and Tulsa Hills.

The Safe Shopper Program is funded by federal grant money.

Officers will focus on patrolling the shopping areas, monitoring parking lots and assisting on-duty officers with larceny calls in the shopping centers.

Last year, Tulsa Police working the Safe Shopper Program in the Riverside Division area handled 84 calls, wrote 165 citations, worked 13 collisions and made 18 arrests.
