LINCOLN COUNTY – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports the unborn child of a Tulsa woman was killed in a single-vehicle collision on the Turner Turnpike in Lincoln County.
Troopers report the vehicle was traveling eastbound on the turnpike when it blew a tire and the driver overcorrected. The vehicle left the roadway and rolled three times, ejecting 21-year-old Danielle Wells and a 3-year-old, according to an OHP report.
EMSA transported Wells to OU Medical Center. She was admitted in critical condition with head and trunk internal injuries. Wells was seven months pregnant. Her unborn child was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The 3-year-old has been treated and released from the hospital.
The 24-year-old driver was not injured.
Seatbelts were equipped and in use by the driver only, according to the OHP report. The report also indicated the child's car seat was equipped, but unsecured in the vehicle.
