TULSA, OK -- Opening ceremonies for this year’s Angel Tree Program will be Saturday, November 21st at the Promenade and Woodland Hills malls.
The ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Promenade and 3:00 p.m. at the Woodland Hills mall.
The opening ceremonies will feature the Salvation Army Brass Ensemble, as well as News On 6 Weekend Anchor Tara Vreeland.
“With the recession, more people than ever can’t afford Christmas gifts for their children. More than 5,000 needy parents signed their children up for the Angel Tree," said Sallie Godwin, public relations director. "The Angel Tree ensures that every child will have a new gift to open up on Christmas morning."
Shoppers can participate in the Angel Tree program by taking a tag from the Angel Tree at either mall and buy gifts for the child whose name, age and ‘want list’ for toys and clothes are on the tag.
Shoppers must return the new, unwrapped gifts to the malls by December 12th.
