Tulsa Co. DA Rules Police Shooting Was Justified

The Tulsa County District Attorney's Office has ruled that a Tulsa Police officer was justified in using deadly force.

TULSA, OK -- The Tulsa County District Attorney's Office has ruled that Tulsa Police officer Jay Chiarito-Mazzarella was justified in using deadly force in the October 15 shooting of a 37-year-old Tulsa man.  

Steven Crowells died a week later at a Tulsa hospital.

Tulsa Police say officer Jay Chiarito-Mazzarella fired at Crowells, after Crowells attempted to back over the officer following a police pursuit. 

According to a news release from TPD, the report will now be presented to the Tulsa Police Department's shooting review board to ensure that Tulsa Police policy was followed during the incident.
