OKLAHOMA CITY - Three people died Tuesday morning in an apartment fire in southwest Oklahoma City, a fire that investigators say was intentionally set.
The fire broke out around 2:15 a.m. near S.W. 24th Street and Villa Avenue at a home that had been converted into apartments.
The house was built with old construction standards, including no fire stops, allowing the fire to spread quickly, Deputy Fire Chief Cecil Clay said.
Six other occupants managed to escape, including a woman who injured her back jumping from a window.
Juilia Toon is one of the nine people who lived in the boarding house. She woke up her fiance after she saw smoke.
"He jumped out the side window and I jumped out the front window," Toon said. "All I saw was smoke and flames."
Oklahoma City fire investigators say the blaze was a set fire.
If anyone has any information regarding this fire, please call the arson hotline, 23-ARSON (232-7766).
There are no suspects at this time and the identities of the victims were not immediately released.
