H1N1 Clinics Offered To Green Country Residents

TULSA, OK -- Nurses with the Tulsa Health Department are trying to move through a huge crowd of people who hope to get vaccinated against the H1N1 virus.

The line of people at TCC's Northeast campus included hundreds of people who want to get vaccinated.

The walk-in clinic began at 3 p.m., but people started lining up several hours before then.  At one point the line stretched all the way around from the east side of the campus to the west side.

Sixteen nurses from the Health Department worked to get people through as quickly as possible. Right now, the vaccine is being offered to children over six months and to pregnant women.

Even with the long lines, many say the wait is worth it.  

"We know how important this is," said Tulsa resident Evelyn Oser. "This is a virus that is killing kids.  And it's really affecting this country.  And this is something that is phenomenal."

No one expected such a large turnout, but the Health Department does expect to have enough vaccine for people to last until the clinic closed at 7 p.m.
