JENKS, OK -- People and their pets enjoyed a sunny day at the RiverWalk in Jenks as the Humane Society of Tulsa celebrated all things dog with Paws in the Park. It was the ninth annual Paws in the Park on the first Humane Society of Tulsa Day as proclaimed by Mayor Kathy Taylor.

"This is our largest fundraiser of the year," said Gina Gardner, president of the Humane Society of Tulsa, at 60th and Sheridan in Tulsa.

"It complete funds giving the dogs and cats medical care, food and shelter so it's a very important event for us."

It was also a chance for families and their pets to enjoy the day together. The no-kill shelter hosted the event which featured a pet walk, best trick contest and pet costume contest. There were also agility demonstrations alongside the Arkansas River.

Adoption center dogs were on hand for people to learn more about adopting or donating funds to the shelter. There were vendors and a special "paw painting" booth.

The Humane Society of Tulsa relies solely on donations by individuals and businesses. Learn more about pet adoption by calling 918-495-DOGS or going to tulsapets.com.
