TULSA---Today guest readers read the book ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle to children around the world in this year's Read for the Record event. Last year over 700,000 readers broke a record as JumpStart, a leading nonprofit organization encouraged literacy.
Community Action Project of Tulsa County joined today's effort by having volunteer readers including Senator Tom Adelson and Officer Lealand Ashley of the Tulsa Police Department read at 12 of CAP's locations across Green Country.
‘At Community Action Project we really want to make sure that all children regardless of their background have an opportunity for good education,' said CAP Communications Specialist Linda Brock, ‘what we're doing today is really trying to encourage adults to read with children and help with literacy.'
