CREEK COUNTY -- Two people are in a Tulsa hospital following an accident on the Turner Turnpike, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at about 9:30 Friday morning in the eastbound lanes of I-44 in Creek County.

The driver, Mark Terry, 39, of Mission Viejo, CA was transported by Medi Flight in serious condition with head and trunk injuries, according to an OHP report. The driver was pinned for about 30 minutes until a Sapulpa Fire Department crew freed him.

A passenger was transported by Life Flight to a Tulsa hospital in critical condition with head and trunk injuries. According to OHP, the passenger was ejected ten feet from the vehicle.

Terry's semi was traveling eastbound on the Turner Turnpike when, for an unknown reason, it left the roadway to the right, striking a guardrail. The semi continued off the roadway into the grass and then into a creek bed, according to an OHP report.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

SKYNEWS 6 flew over the accident scene and showed the eastbound lanes were not blocked because of the accident.
