TULSA, OK -- If you're walking along Main Street in downtown Tulsa during lunch hour, you may see an amazing drummer playing for your change. Jascha Tobias plays with a rhythm that can coax a dollar right out of your hand, but the most amazing thing is that his drum set is mostly made of junk.
Circular saw blades serve as cymbals, and the base drum is an old plastic bucket.
"People don't expect it to sound the way it does," Jascha explained, "some people say I just spent $4,000 to $5,000 on a drum set and here you are out on the street with this thing and it sounds just as good!"
You may also see Tobias playing at Mayfest, Dfest and other events around Tulsa, but he says he really enjoys his Friday gigs for the lunch crowd on the streets of Tulsa.
"I try to come out once a week or once every other week and just sit out here and play," he said.
"‘I think it just adds some entertainment and might brighten people's day up a little bit."
