Canute Man Drowns In Lake Eufala

Eddie J. Edler, 62, of Canute fell off a moving pontoon boat and drowned in about 17 feet of water, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

UNDATED -- A 62-year-old Canute man drowned Thursday in the Highline Cove area of Lake Eufaula in McIntosh County.

Just before 2 p.m., Eddie J. Edler was standing up in a 2003 Voyager pontoon boat when the boat was underway. He fell overboard, re-surfaced once then was not seen again.

Elder's body was located with sonar at about 5 p.m. in 17 feet of water, about the same location where he fell overboard, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
