TULSA, OK -- A Tulsa family cut short their vacation at Eufaula Lake and returned to Tulsa on Sunday to find their home destroyed by fire.

The east Tulsa house in the 2800 block of S. 136 East Ave. was vacant when it was lost to an early morning fire Sunday.

"We got the call at about 4 a.m., and the house was fully involved upon our arrival," said Acting Assistant Fire Chief Michael Atchison, Tulsa Fire Department.

Firefighters had to retreat from inside the house when flames "falling down from the ceiling and off the walls" burned holes in the water lines, Atchison said.

"They lost water and had to back out," he said. Fire crews extinguished the fire and began cleaning up the remains of the structure.
