September Is Hunger Action Month In Tulsa

TULSA, OK -- Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor has declared September Hunger Action Month.

The proclamation comes after the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma announced that the number of people seeking food assistance in the Tulsa area has risen by 40% from last year.

The mayor is hoping to organize a month-long effort to collect food and donations for the food bank.  The USDA recently listed Oklahoma as the eighth hungriest state in the nation.
