Deal Reached To Idle Sand Springs Steel Plant

SAND SPRINGS, OK -- Sand Springs City Hall says a deal has been reached between Gerdau Ameristeel and its union on how the company will suspend work while it figures out what to do with the plant.                  

Work at the plant will wrap over the next several weeks.

The company is still looking at options to possibly modernize the plant and resume work in the future, and it's talking with state and local leaders about potential economic incentives to help.
