HASKELL, OK -- A Haskell woman received a big surprise for her 100th blood donation on Thursday.
The Oklahoma Blood Institute had balloons and cake ready when Susan Peters arrived on Thursday.
She has been donating, mostly platelets, for five years.
Peters is a nurse at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa and says she sees the need for blood first hand. This is one way Peters says she can help people and it only costs about two hours of her time.
"They make it very pleasant here to do it. You know, it's really more like coming to spend time with friends. You get to know the people and the time passes very quickly," said Susan Peters.
Peters says she primarily donates platelets because it means she can give more often.
