Edmond Soldier In Iraq One Of Four Charged With Cruelty

BAGHDAD, IRAQ -- The U.S. military says four Fort Bliss soldiers in Iraq have been charged with cruelty and maltreatment of soldiers in their platoon.

In a statement released Friday, the military says charges were filed Wednesday.

The statement identified Sgt. Jarrett Taylor of Edmond, Oklahoma as one of the four.  The other three were identified as Staff Sgt. Bob Clements of Eastland, Texas; Sgt. Enoch Chatman of West Covina, Calif. and Spc. Daniel Weber of Frankenmuth, Mich.

All are assigned to the 13th Calvary Regiment from Fort Bliss, near El Paso, Texas.

Sgt. Jarrett Taylor was charged with two counts of cruelty and maltreatment, one count of making false statement and one count of reckless endangerment.

Taylor faces up to eight years in prison, if convicted on all charges.

The statement does not provide any further details.
