UNDATED -- The Chief of the Creek Nation says there's a double standard when it comes to paying taxes on land.

The Creek Nation wants the federal government to put 40 acres of land along the Arkansas River into trust.

About half that is next to the River Spirit Casino, the rest is on the west side of the river.

Getting the land into federal trust means the tribe would not have to pay taxes on it.  But, the city's trying to stop that from happening.  It says if that land goes into trust the city would lose tens of thousands of dollars in taxes.

The chief says he just wants the tribe to get the same tax exemption the city gets on thousands of acres it owns.
