Broken Arrow Voters Approve 2 of 4 Bond Questions

Voters in Broken Arrow gave the go-ahead to two bond issues.  Four were on the ballot.

BROKEN ARROW, OK -- Voters in Broken Arrow gave the go-ahead to two of 4 bond issues.  Four bond issues were on the ballot.

Voters approved bonds for street improvements and support for Main Street businesses.

Voters shot down bonds that would pay to build a conference and convention center and a new Public Safety Complex to house the Broken Arrow Police and Fire Headquarters.

Proposition 1 for downtown redevelopment passed with 51.4% for to 48.6% against. 

Proposition 2 for traffic and street improvements passed 60.2% in favor of to 39.8% against.

Proposition 1 for a public safety complex failed with 46.72% for and 53.28% against.

Proposition Two to fund the construction of a convention center failed with 36.44% in favor and 63.56% against.

Elsewhere, in Pittsburg County, McAlester voters rejected a sales tax proposal that would have paid for improvements to water and sewer systems and to roads.
