The US Postal Service is looking to save money by closing or consolidating almost 700 post offices, including eight in Oklahoma. Two of the post offices slated for possible closing are in Tulsa: the Kendall Whittier and Gilcrease stations.
The Postal Service is trying to offset a $12 billion loss for this fiscal year.
Dave Lewin, regional spokesman, says the list is not final yet, and the public will get a chance to speak out.
The U.S. Postal Service is looking to save $6 billion to cut its losses, Lewin said, and also is freezing new hires and administrative salaries and halting construction projects.
The other six post offices that may be cut are in Oklahoma City.
