OKLAHOMA CITY -- Recession battered retailers are trying to boost sales this summer with Christmas in July.
Christmas is still five months away, but stores like Sears are getting a head start in stocking their shelves with holiday items for shoppers.
"There's been a lot of interest. People start planning out early right now, especially in a tougher economy people are planning a lot sooner for Christmas. We already have people putting things in layaway and preparing for that season," said Mark Willis an employee at Sears.
Last year, retail stores across the country reported a record low in holiday sales.
