TULSA---Motorcyclists from across the country are in Tulsa for the 31st Annual Wing Ding held at Expo Square. The event is a celebration of everything related to the Honda Goldwing.
‘This is a Goldwing Road Riders Association event,' said Entertainment Manager Renee Thomas, ‘we have all kinds of events, we have bike shows, we have talent shows, we have couple competitions. We expect 10,000, but it's been up to 14-15,000, it just varies.'
The international convention opens Thursday, July 2, and runs through Sunday, July 5, 2009. Visitors will be amazed at the levels of customization on these flagship Hondas.
‘The Goldwing is the premier street motorcycle,' said John Lazzeroni, whose company J&M Corporation makes radios, headsets and stereo systems for the Goldwing, ‘combining comfort, the ability to haul your luggage, just a first-class machine.' John has attended all 31 of the annual Wing Dings.
Clara and Fred Boldt rode their ‘wing' in from Iowa for the event, and although the estimate their rig has around $50,000 already invested in it there is always more to do.
‘There's always chrome,' said Fred laughing, ‘we put a lot of chrome on them.'
‘We go to a lot of rallys,' said Clara, ‘but this is the granddaddy of them all.'
