TULSA, OK -- An Oklahoma doctor is using cutting edge technology to treat patients in Tulsa.

Doctor Carson Wong is the first physician in the state, and one of only eight in the country, to perform delicate surgery with the help of a medical robot.

The robot is called the da Vinci Si and offers the surgeon pin-point accuracy, magnification and clarity on the operating table.

On Saturday, Doctor Wong showcased his mechanical partner in all its glory.

"The surgeon sits at a console and basically plays a video game. The advantage is that you have that high definition 3D image, which obviously facilitates your vision, and you have a robot that translates the movements of your fingers, wrists and hands into instruments inside the patient," said Doctor Carson Wong, OU Medical Center.

The medical robot has proven results. Most patients report less pain and a faster recovery time.
