TULSA, OK -- One of the best things about cooking a big pot of chili is sharing it with other people.
Marvin McKissick is a 90-year-old resident of The Broadmoor Retirement Community in Tulsa. Marvin cooked some chili Wednesday and shared it with a room full of ladies.
In the library at The Broadmoor, a group of ladies gathered for a special chili lunch.
"I did it several times for the men and the ladies started hollering," said Marvin McKissick, Broadmoor resident.
Marvin McKissick slaved over a big pot of chili for about an hour.
Marvin McKissick said he started making chili for family reunions in 1980. He moved into The Broadmoor a few years ago and occasionally cooks a pot for the residents. This is his third ladies only lunch.
He says there's nothing secret about his recipe -- the meat, some V8, Williams Chili Seasoning and some diced tomatoes.
Marvin's says he likes cooking for the ladies because they're more apt to tell you what they're thinking.
When the chili arrived, it was serve yourself and they did. Marvin listened, but there was more eating than talking, so they must have liked it.
