TULSA, OK -- An American Airlines flight bound for Chicago had to divert to Tulsa Thursday morning.

American Airlines flight 888 took off earlier in the morning from San Antonio, Texas.

American Airlines says the MD-82 diverted to Tulsa because an indicator light showed a possible issue with a fuel filter.

After landing safely, staff from American's maintenance facility at Tulsa International Airport was dispatched to assess the problem with the plane and repair it, if necessary.

The flight finally took off for Chicago at 11:24 a.m.
