Search For Two Colcord Men Missing Since 1988

COLCORD, OK -- An anonymous tip led Delaware County Sheriff's Office deputies to some possible human bones in the Colcord area earlier this week.

Deputies say they are trying to determine if the bones are human and if they belong to two missing men who disappeared in Colcord in 1987 and 1988.

William Reed, 33, disappeared on December 19, 1987 and Johnnie Ball, 60, disappeared from his home on September 27, 1988.

Investigators contacted canine rescue dogs based in Tahlequah and coordinated a search of a home on April 22.

Deputies spent most of the night at the home.

Six dogs were involved in the search and alerted deputies several times.

Deputies dug under the home and discovered several small bone fragments buried approximately 1.5 to 2 feet deep.

The bones have been sent to the state Medical Examiner Office in Tulsa.
