Search Called Off For Downed Aircraft

SKYNEWS 6 assisted authorities in the search for a small plane reportedly down in the Leonard area Wednesday morning.  After looking for almost an hour, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol called off the search.

LEONARD, OK -- SKYNEWS 6 assisted authorities in the search for a small plane reportedly down in the Leonard area Wednesday morning. After looking for almost an hour, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol called off the search.

An OHP dispatcher told the News On 6 they had received a report of a distress beacon from a downed aircraft.

OHP troopers, Bixby Fire and the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office searched a wooded area near Leonard.

During that search, SKYNEWS 6 got video of a small airplane that appeared to have been on the ground in a wooded area for quite some time.

It's still not clear what was the source of the beacon.
