TULSA, OK -- Officers with the Tulsa Police Department stopped an alleged stabbing from taking place when responding to a disturbance.

The incident happened shortly after midnight on Monday in the 1800 block of South Boulder.

Officers arrived to the scene to find 57-year-old Marilyn McCowen confronting two people with a knife behind her back.

Officers ordered her to drop the knife. Officers say she complied and was placed into custody.

Officers said the investigation revealed McCowen was arguing with a woman and attempted to stab her. Another person intervened and took the knife away from McCowen.

McCowen then went to her apartment and got a larger knife and returned to the scene, officers said.

Officers arrived during the second confrontation and arrested McCowen for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
