TULSA, OK -- Police nabbed a fugitive after a pursuit through Tulsa on Sunday afternoon.
Dolan Prejean, 37, was arrested in his brother's apartment near 71st Street and Mingo Road.
Prejean was wanted on warrants in Tulsa and Louisiana and was being watched by the Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force.
Police described Prejean as a career criminal with multiple convictions of auto theft, burglary, escape and other felonies.
"He needed to go to jail," Cpl. Matt Hart said. "There's no doubt about it. He obviously put the public in jeopardy by driving the way he did in the pursuit, just the fact that it's a Sunday afternoon, people are out and there's a lot of traffic and he's out driving in a stolen Mercedes trying to get away from police. He obviously didn't want to go back to jail."
Officers say Prejean was found hiding under a couch in the apartment with a large knife. He was booked into the Tulsa jail about 5:30 p.m. on the warrants, along with complaints of eluding police, possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.
