TULSA, OK -- Tulsans proudly recognized veterans with an annual Medal of Honor Day ceremony.
This year's guest of honor was Master Sergeant Richard Pittman, one of only 98 living Medal of Honor recipients in the nation.
Organizers of the patriotic event say it's people like Pittman who are truly heroic.
"It's important that we remember that we have true heroes, what are real heroes that we have and not our rock stars and our athletes. It's the people that go out and accomplish something, those that have defended our country that we enjoy the freedoms we have today," said Marty McKnight, Medal of Honor Day Committee.
The ceremony also recognized 40 other Medal of Honor recipients with ties to Oklahoma.
