BIXBY, OK -- Some Bixby parents have a little more peace of mind after getting their children's eyes scanned.

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office has an iris scanner and can use it to identify a lost or kidnapped child.

While it's similar to fingerprint, doctors say an iris offers about eight times more points of comparison, and they say the high-definition digital picture is very precise.

"In fact, this technology allows us to even differentiate between identical twins and even one's right or left eye," optometrist Dr. James Ward said.

Dr. Ward uploaded the data to a national database that can be accessed anywhere in the country.
