STRINGTOWN, Okla. (AP) -- The state Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of a fire that killed a woman and her grandson and destroyed their Stringtown home.

Stringtown Police Chief Mike Wilson says 68-year-old JoAnn Brown and 22-year-old Kenneth Brown were killed in the fire, which began about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials suspect the fire began near a gas stove.

State Fire Marshal's spokesman Gene Wheat says something may have gotten too close to the stove.
