INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Strong winds from severe thunderstorms have been raking parts of the Midwest.

Storm winds have tossed a school bus onto a building, destroyed or damaged dozens of homes, and cutoff power to thousands of customers in Indiana and Illinois.

Emergency management officials report a tornado in Lawrence County, Ind. But the National Weather Service hasn't confirmed it.

Footage from WTHR-TV in Indianapolis shows a school bus lying atop a flattened building in Fayetteville, about 70 miles south of Indianapolis, where the tornado was reported.

The sheriff says at least 19 houses were damaged, including three that were leveled.

A fire official says at least seven houses were destroyed near Loami (loh-AH'-mee), Ill., and 30 more sustained severe damage. he says two horses on a farm were "lost" in the storm.

Officials say winds tore the roofs off buildings in northern Indiana and central Illinois.
