Man Confesses To Shawnee Beating Death

SHAWNEE, OK -- Shawnee police say a man has confessed to the beating death of a man there nearly eight years ago.

Police Cpl. Greg Gibson says 24-year-old Matthew Lee Williams told police he wanted to get the killing off his conscience.

He was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Pottawatomie County jail on a first-degree murder complaint.

He has not been formally charged.
