OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The state Senate votes unanimously for a bill to establish English as the "common" language of Oklahoma.

Sen. Patrick Anderson's bill says except as otherwise provided by federal or state law, no agency or political subdivision of the state shall be required to provide written materials in any language other than English.

A rival measure calling for a statewide vote on requiring even more government documents to be in English only is on the House calendar.
